Hello there,
My name is Madyson Epperson and I am the
new Education/Natural Resources Specialist for Guernsey County Soil and Water
Conservation District. I’m a Guernsey County native, born and raised in
Byesville, Ohio and an alumnus of Meadowbrook High School. I grew up fishing
and boating on Seneca Lake, hiking and exploring Salt Fork State Park and
running around barefoot getting my hands on any critters I could catch. When
I’m not tending to my vegetable garden, running, or spending time with friends
and family, you can almost always find me with my two dogs, Hank and Ivy,
hiking, swimming and roaming around the great outdoors.
In 2017, I graduated from The Ohio State
University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Environment and Natural
Resources. During my last year of college I interned with ODNR Division of
Wildlife in Wildlife Management where I assisted the Wildlife Manager on
various projects and was in charge of preparing and maintain the butterfly
house at The Ohio State Fair. After graduation I worked as a Naturalist at
Seneca Lake Park for the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District where I
planned and performed natural resource based programs and activities. After
that, I worked in Oregon for a couple months building trails, performing trail
maintenance, cleaning up after wildfires and removing trees that interfered
with mule deer and elk habitats in numerous national forests.
I’m so excited to have joined a team that
is just as passionate about natural resources as I am. I’m so grateful to be
able to have the chance to make a difference and give back to the place that
sparked my interest in natural resources by working with landowners, the
community and with Guernsey County schools to educate and promote the
sustainable use of natural resources for current and future generations! Don’t
hesitate to call or stop in with any questions or just to say hi. Myself, and
the rest of the staff here at Guernsey SWCD will try to assist you in every
possible way we can!
