My name is Levi Mercer. I was born and raised in Guernsey County, just outside of Cambridge. The outdoors have always been a large part of my life. Growing up on a farm, I learned from an early age to enjoy the outdoors and everything it has to offer. I especially enjoy shooting sports, fishing, kayaking, hunting, camping, and cutting firewood. When I am not in the woods or on the water somewhere, I also train and show my own reining horses at shows across the eastern side of the county.

I graduated from Meadowbrook High School in 2019 and enrolled that same fall in the Wildlife Conservation Program at Zane State College. As a student, I volunteered with the Salt Fork Fish Management unit. Spending the summer and fall of 2021 volunteering with Fish Management gave me an opportunity to learn a plethora of skills for managing our waterways for fish, aquatic creatures, as well as wildlife who are also impacted by the changes we make. My volunteer experience lead to a position in the fall of 2022, as a seasonal technician at the Salt Fork Wildlife Area. There I got the chance to work hands on in the field on a number of habitat management projects, such as controlling for invasive species, trapping and banding waterfowl, planting and burning dove fields, and mowing and maintain trails across three wildlife areas. I became a part of the Guernsey Soil & Water team in October of 2023, as the Wildlife/Forestry Specialist. As part of my job, I assist with human/wildlife conflicts, and educate the public on how to manage their own properties to benefit both wildlife as well as their own interests. If you think that there is something that I could do to help you in in this way, don't hesitate to give me a call or send me an email!
